About Tenon Collective
At Tenon Collective, we believe that strong relationships create strong organizations. Our work is rooted in the understanding that how we connect—both personally and professionally—shapes how we lead, collaborate, and thrive.
Our Mission
In our work with organizations, our mission is to support the creation of efficient, effective, and healthy organizations, with a particular focus on relational health. We help leaders and teams navigate complexity by strengthening the human connections that drive organizational success, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to lead with clarity and confidence.
At the individual level, we know that sometimes professional challenges, transitions, or personal struggles call for a deeper, more compassionate level of support. That’s why we also offer counseling and coaching services, creating space for people to explore personal growth, self-awareness, and emotional well-being with a trained mental health professional.
Our Unique Approach
What makes Tenon Collective different? We don’t just consult—we integrate insights from counseling, coaching, and consulting to understand how people and organizations function together. This intersection allows us to explore:
How relational safety impacts performance, trust, and innovation.
How leaders and teams show up and interact in ways that either strengthen or weaken culture.
How individual and group dynamics shape organizational resilience and effectiveness.
When challenges call for coaching, consulting, or the deeper support of a mental health professional to truly make meaningful change.
We see the workplace as more than a system—it’s a space where human experiences, emotions, and relationships define success.
Who We Work With
Our consulting focus is on small and medium-size organizations, often nonprofits, where agility, collaboration, and human connection are essential. Whether it’s helping a leadership team build psychological safety, supporting teams through transition, or aligning culture with mission, we bring a people-first approach that ensures sustainable impact.
At Tenon Collective, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, we meet organizations where they are, helping them create cultures that foster authentic connection, trust, and effectiveness—because when people thrive, organizations do too.
About Nick
Nicholas Corne, MOD, MA, LCPC
Nick’s work lives at the intersection of counseling, coaching, and consulting, where mental health, leadership, and organizational culture meet.
His unique experience as both a management consultant and a licensed mental health counselor informs his perspective that business outcomes are best achieved through the commitment of leaders and teams who feel safe, secure, and supported in their roles and work communities. Whether working with individuals or organizations, Nick’s approach is rooted in psychological safety, emotional intelligence, and relational well-being, ensuring that people feel both empowered and connected.
Nick holds a Bachelor's degrees in Psychology with a minor in business and a Master of Organization Development from Bowling Green State University, where he developed expertise in systems thinking, change management, and workplace culture. Having decided he wanted to have a deeper impact in life, he earned a Master of Arts in Counselor Education from the University of Toledo, further deepening his understanding of human behavior, mental health, and the impact of relationships on personal and professional well-being.
Nick began his career as a management consultant building a leadership development program in higher education and eventually helping Fortune 500 companies implement large-scale, global IT solutions. His consulting experience spans industries including finance, higher education, manufacturing, and nonprofit association management, providing him with a broad and adaptable perspective on workplace culture and team dynamics. Over time, he transitioned into mental health and leadership development, bringing his consulting expertise into workplace mental health initiatives, psychological safety training, and leadership coaching.
In his private practice, Nick works primarily with self-reflective, motivated individuals navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, isolation, and identity. Many have a history of complex, relational trauma. His therapeutic approach is rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and borrows from many other theories helping clients strengthen their relationships, deepen self-awareness, and create meaningful change. His work bridges the personal and professional, recognizing that relational health—both at work and at home—is key to overall well-being.
As a certified Psychological Safety Coach (LeaderFactor) and DEI-certified professional (Cornell), Nick helps organizations cultivate inclusive, high-trust workplaces where people feel empowered, appreciated, valued, and safe. He integrates Self-Led Leadership Coaching into his professional and executive coaching practice, using IFS principles to help leaders develop self-awareness, navigate complexity, and foster cultures of psychological safety.
Outside of work, Nick is an (amateur) woodworker, drawn to the craftsmanship and precision of creating functional and artistic pieces—an extension of his belief that when things fit together well, they create something stronger than they were individually (a philosophy that also underpins his consulting and counseling work). He’s also a member of an improv ensemble, embracing the spontaneity, collaboration, and humor that make for great performances—and great conversations. When he’s not working or building something, you can find him exploring Chicago, taking in live performances, and enjoying the energy of the city.
